Diane Gabaldons take on Highland life was doubtless inspired by the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands and whilst many of the locations shown in the popular TV dramatization were actually invented or located in the more southern parts of Scotland there are a number of attractions connected with the series including Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns (mysterious stone circles) Newtonmore Highland Folk Museum (re created crofting type village used as a set for the series) and of course the stunning beauty of Glencoe, used as a back drop in some of the opening scenes.
So why not take my Outlander tour which includes Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, Spean Bridge Commando Memorial, Newtonmore Folk Museum , Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield with an option to travel through Fort William, Ballachulish and Glencoe. The first option would be a "longer" day tour, the second option would be more expensive to reflect the significant extra time and mileage but it is notable that the second option would capture many fantastic Highland locations and weather permitting would be an outstanding and memorable trip.
