Diane Gabaldons take on Highland life was doubtless inspired by the rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands and whilst many of the locations shown in the popular TV dramatization were actually invented or located in the more southern parts of Scotland there are a number of attractions connected with the series including Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns (mysterious stone circles) Newtonmore Highland Folk Museum (re created crofting type village used as a set for the series) and of course the stunning beauty of Glencoe, used as a back drop in some of the opening scenes.

So why not take my  Standard Outlander tour which includes Loch Ness, Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus, Spean Bridge Commando Memorial, Newtonmore Folk Museum , Clava Cairns and Culloden Battlefield which for pricing purposes would be regarded as a Longer Day Tour. A second option would include travel to Fort William, Ballachulish and Glencoe with a return North via the A9. This would be regarded as an extended longer day tour however the extra travel would be well worth it given the magnificent scenery to be found in Glencoe.
